Daniel Bedingfield opens up about his sexuality for the first time

Singer-songwriter Daniel Bedingfield, who is ‘Pocketful of Sunshine’ singer Natasha Bedingfield’s elder brother, discussed the queer background of one of his tracks during a recent London concert.

According to ‘Out’, on Tuesday, April 23, at the London Palladium, Bedingfield performed his single ‘Borderline’ to a full house and disclosed that it was inspired by a man for whom he had developed feelings.

“I wrote this song with a man I loved about a girl we both loved,” he shared, according to Daily Mail.

“In my era, you had to be gay or straight, or f**k you.”

This is believed to be the first occasion he has publicly talked about his sexual orientation.

The artist concluded by saying, “I'm not very gay, but we were on a hot spring, sitting on a rock, missing her..”

Bedingfield has previously released two albums, in 2002 and 2004, which included hits like ‘Gotta Get Thru This’ and ‘If You're Not the One,’ both achieving number one in the U.K. and top fifteen in the U.S.A., along with several singles and EPs over the years.

Currently, ‘Borderline’ is not available on streaming platforms, and it remains uncertain whether this track is an older, unreleased work or a new song that Bedingfield is planning to officially launch.
