Existing Marvel Character to Come Out in Future Film

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo have said that a current Marvel character will come out as gay.

Joe Russo made a cameo in the last the film as an unnamed character who talks about going on his first date since his male partner disappeared.

Speaking to EW Russo confirmed that that was indeed the first openly gay character to appear in the MCU.

“Yes, openly gay,” he said. “There’ve been insinuations about other characters’ sexuality, but this is the first openly gay character.”

“Who else is gay?” host Jessica Shaw asked

“Uh—we’re gonna find out,” Joe replied.

“That’s a story for another day,” Anthony added.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige already confirmed back in 2018 that a previously known character would come out and that they would also be bringing in a new gay character.

“Both ones you’ve seen and ones you haven’t seen,” he said at the time.

There has been speculation that the new Eternals movie will feature a gay Hercules.
