Gay novel wins Pulitzer Prize for Literature
Andrew Sean Greer’s novel Less has won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Literature, one of the highest honours in the industry. His novel follows Arthur Less, a failed novelist about to turn 50 who flees town to avoid his ex-boyfriend’s wedding and ends up on a life-changing trip around the world.
This is Greer’s sixth novel and was released in July of last year, it made several “best of 2017” lists, including The New York Times, Washington Post, and the Paris Review.
Greer wasn’t the only LGBT+ writer to win at this year’s Pulitzer, Ronan Farrow also won for his reporting of the Harvey Weinstein scandal.
