GLAAD releases gay children’s book “Prince & Knight”
GLAAD, the American LGBT+ organisation that acts as a media
watchdog, has announced it is releasing a new line of children’s books in
association with Bonnier Publishing USA. Their first book is titled “Prince
& Knight” and follows a Prince’s search for a bride that leads him to fall
in love with a knight instead. The two then have a fairy-tale wedding. Written
by Danial Haack and illustrated by Stevie Lewis, the book is out now.
The second book is called “Jack (Not Jackie)” about a big
sister who learns to embrace her trans younger sibling Jack. The book will be
written by Erica Silverman and is out this October.
GLAAD CEO Sarah Kate Ellis said she was proud of the new
line of books: “GLAAD is committed to advancing positive
representation of LGBTQ lives, experiences and stories at every stage of our
lives, and books are a natural progression to encourage awareness, kindness,
and acceptance at an early age.”
The organisation plans to release four books a year targeting children up to the age of 14.
