Google Celebrates Fifty Years of Pride
Google celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the Stonewall Riots with a special doodle designed by LGBT+ artist Nate Swinehart.
The animation takes users through 50 years of LGBT+ activism, with the Pride parade becoming larger with each slide.
“Working on this Doodle was a very personal project for me,” said Swinehart.
“As a member of the LBGTQ+ community, I am very familiar with the struggle of feeling included, accepted, and that I am a ‘part’ of this world.”
When you click on the Google image at the end of the animation it takes you to a Google search for “celebrating Pride”.
“Over the past 50 years, that powerful spirit of pride has spread from Christopher Street to other streets and neighbourhoods and communities, connecting people all around the world,” said Google Art Director, Erich Nagler.
“That expanding spirit of love and acceptance is something we’ve hoped to capture in today’s Doodle.”
