Janelle Monae has come out as non-binary, after previously saying they identify as both pansexual and bisexual, according to ‘Metro’.
On Twitter, Monae retweeted a non-binary meme that read: “There is absolutely nothing better than living outside the gender binary.
‘“Are you a boy or a girl?” I’m an experience.’ They followed that with the hashtag #IAmNonBinary.
Monae’s followers showed their support with their replies. One fan wrote: “U are a true inspiration and I adore u for living ur life exactly how ur meant to.”
Another fan wrote: “We KNEW! Thank you for your art and talent!”
Others wrote “LOVE YOU JANELLE! PROUD OF U!!” and “I love you so much, thanks for speaking up for your truth, and by, consequence, also mine.”
