LGBT History Month closing event at Hackney Town Hall

LGBT History Month closing event at Hackney Town Hall on 28 Feb.

London's 'Night Czar', comic, presenter, Duckie legend and LGBT-activist, Amy Lamé, is confirmed as our guest speaker.

The evening will celebrate all the achievements – delivered with the help of the borough’s amazing LGBTQI+ community – as part of the Council’s Hackney Pride 365 festival.

Launched on 1 Feb 2017, the programme covered everything from gardening clubs to club nights; a family-friendly picnic to history walks. We proudly flew the rainbow flag over the town hall for the first time in history; established an LGBTQI+ business network; organised the borough’s biggest ever representation at the Pride in London parade; and funded an LGBT History Month exhibition at Hackney Museum thanks to the sale of the iconic ‘Hackney Pride’ banner by renowned artist Stik.

As well as looking back at the past 12-months of activity, we will be announcing plans for the rest of 2018 and beyond.

Doors open at 7.30pm. Speeches start at 8.30pm and will be followed by drinks and DJs. There will be networking opportunities and a chance to start informal conversations about how the Council can continue to support the borough’s LGBTQI+ community; Hackney Museum’s drive to collect LGBTQI+ artefacts and histories; and new ideas for the Hackney Pride 365 festival.
