Rainbow Flags Banned from Flying Outside US Embassies During Pride Month

Several American embassies from around the world have had their requests denied to display rainbow flags during Pride Month, reports NBC News.

US Vice President Mike Pence confirmed that the Trump administration had rejected the requests from the Israeli, German, Brazilian and Latvian embassies.

“It’s the right decision,” he said.

“As the president said on the night we were elected, we’re proud to be able to serve every American. We both feel that way very passionately, but when it comes to the American flagpole, and American embassies, and capitals around the world, one American flag flies.”

NBC News pointed out that the decision was hypocritical after the president posted a tweet seemingly in support of LGBT+ rights on May 31st: “Let us also stand in solidarity with the many LGBT people who live in dozens of countries worldwide that punish, imprison, or even execute individuals on the basis of their sexual orientation.

“My Administration has launched a global campaign to decriminalise homosexuality and invite all nations to join us in this effort!”
