Rosario Dawson And Family Sued Over Alleged Transphobic Assault

Rosario Dawson and members of her family have been sued by a trans man hired to renovate her home as a handyman, according to ‘People’.

Dedrek Finley claims that right after he came out to the Dawson family as trans the atmosphere changed “immediately”.

Finley stated that they “misgendered him multiple times each day, with deliberate indifference as to the appropriate way to address” and that Dawson’s step-father would scream at him “you’re not a man”, “a man wouldn’t work like this”, “you only think you’re a man.”

Allegedly Dawson was confronted by Finley but “refused to act to end the abuse” telling Finley “You’re a grown woman”.

After he was asked to move out of the house Dawson, her step-father Gregory and her mother Isabel were giving him free of rent and he refused, Finley accuses them of also physically abusing him.

The lawsuit states that “Once Mr. Finley was lying helpless on the ground outside, Isabel, who is substantially larger than Mr. Finley, got on top of Mr. Finley’s body and began punching him”.

“While beating Mr. Finley, Isabel screamed, ‘You’re not so much of a man now,’ which was a clear and denigrating reference to Mr. Finley’s gender identity.”

Representatives for Dawson did not respond to requests for comment.
