Vietnam’s first trans dad and his trans wife have become parents to a healthy baby girl. Minh Khang is the first trans man in Vietnam to have been pregnant and give birth after he stopped taking hormones for three months.
The trans couple is well known in Vietnam after they met in a trans beauty content. They shared the news of their baby girl being delivered on social media.
Earlier this year the couple were guests on the TV show “Come out – Bước ra ánh sáng” (Come out to the light) where they called for public and healthcare centres to support couples like them realise their dream of being parents.
As ‘It’s Gone Viral’ reports, Minh Khang may be the first trans dad in Vietnam but in Australia in 2018 alone 22 trans men gave birth, and 228 trans men gave birth in the last decade. This data was collected in Australia as part of a film called Seahorse, which explores a trans man’s pregnancy.
