What we have done to drive diversity in our workplace and industry:

• We’ve been doing work to understand the makeup of our business, and the experiences of our employees

• In lockstep with our LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group, we’ve run events to champion the successes of our LGBTQ+ members as well as driving forward diversity in the Insurance industry for the community, with the help of external parties like LINK (The LGBTQ+ Insurance Network)

• We’ve launched Reciprocal Mentoring in the UK and Asia, where our leaders and our junior talent get together to mutually share their experiences and promote conversations on inclusion

• We’re also passionate about getting people into the industry who might have had career breaks or want to pivot into a professional Insurance career

• We train our hiring managers on building up greater balance in our recruiting shortlists

• Alongside the LGBTQ+ ERG, we also collaborate with our other ERGs and external networks to encourage conversation around a broad range of topics such as disability, gender and ethnicity

• And of course we regularly partner with key organisations in the industry that support and promote diversity and inclusivity, such as Equity, Scope, Princes Trust – to name a few

CSR at Howden

The Group also has a strong culture of giving back and our staff regularly volunteer for causes they care about.

· Global Group Giving Month is one of our core global campaigns led by the Community Impact Team whereby staff are encouraged to go out with their teams and either, volunteer or fundraise for charities close to their hearts during the month of May.

o Over £100,000 was fundraised collectively for various causes

o Over 4,250 hours volunteered by staff globally

o Over 20 Countries took part

o 110 charities supported worldwide

· For FY23, we had a total of 5,639 volunteer hours recorded group wide.

o We have been delighted to see in-person volunteering and engagement opportunities resume with our charity partners.

o Alongside continued virtual engagement opportunities such as CV reviews and online workshops, colleagues have supported organisations in-person through mentoring, career insight visits, volunteering in local foodbanks and outdoor spaces and supporting environmental clean-ups
