Working for Linklaters

Our strengths and vision set out our roadmap to an even more successful future. Achieving it though, starts at home. It calls for everyone who works under the Linklaters name to work to a shared sense of purpose, and common values.  It's what we call ‘Our Team Linklaters Way’.

Our Team Linklaters Way

Our five values guide what we do, so that every action we take makes us stronger and brings us closer to realising our goals. Day in, day out, they shape what we expect of ourselves and each other.

1. We strive for excellence

We deliver fantastic client service. We seek and act on feedback, so that we continuously improve.

2. We respect each other

We support our people and embrace diversity. We are accountable, and we lead by example.

3. We are leaders

We are empowered, entrepreneurial and inspire. We take the initiative, encourage innovation and embrace new ideas.

4. We act with integrity

We don’t just do things right, we do the right thing. We are admired as a responsible business.

5. We are one team

We are united, inclusive and collaborative. We deliver the whole firm to our client

Diversity and Inclusion

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is the pulse of our firm, running through our global business strategy and firmly embedded in our culture and values. We are committed to using our position as a global business to create fairer systems and a more inclusive culture within our firm and beyond.

We know our differences make us a better and stronger law firm. Our mission is to use the power of our diversity to make a positive contribution to our clients, our communities and each other.

We take a global approach to delivering meaningful progress across our six priority focus areas, empowering our local teams to drive actions that make sense in a local context. That way, change is meaningful, sustainable and has impact.

We will continue to hold ourselves accountable to our commitments and targets, and to be transparent about our progress, celebrating what we’ve achieved together and being open about the challenges we still face on our journey.

Our goal is to create an environment of inclusion and belonging for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions.

Inclusion is at the heart of our culture and we aim to be a safe space where our LGBTQ+ colleagues can bring their whole self to work and achieve their full potential. Our work in this space highlights the many different experiences of our LGBTQ+ colleagues and our work in this space includes:

• Active “With Pride” and “Allies With Pride” networks across our global offices, to support LGBTQ+ inclusion

• Educating our people about the LGBT+ experience throughout the year, on topics such as Trans Awareness, the importance of allyship, and Bi and Non-binary identities

• A dedicated mentoring programme for LGBT+ people in the firm

• Creating role models through sharing stories of our LGBT+ colleagues

• Being a founding member of Open for Business, a coalition of leading global companies dedicated to LGBT+ inclusion.

With Pride Network

With Pride exists to provide leadership in promoting diversity, equity and inclusion, such that every person within the firm who identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual or who identifies with any other aspect on the spectrum of gender identity or sexual orientation (LGBTQ+) can bring their whole self to work and achieve their full potential.

The network holds several internal networking events throughout the year, including our Pride month events in June and two events to welcome new joiners in both the Spring and the Autumn. In addition to our networking events, we also have a mentoring programme, through which network members can request meetings with mentors from various levels of seniority (from trainee to partner) for one to one chats about personal and professional development. Building relationships with our clients is very important, and as such we hold client events at which our members can build networks with employees from our client firms. Our key event is an annual private art exhibition viewing followed by a drinks reception and canapés. We also hold discussion panel events at which prominent speakers in the diversity and inclusion sphere discuss current LGBT+ issues. Trainee recruitment is also an active interest of the network and we run various events, often in conjunction with our Trainee Recruitment Team. We have an active committee of volunteers of all levels within Linklaters, each looking after a different area of the network’s work. We also have a number of charity links and are always looking to expand our charity outreach. We are currently working with Diversity Role Models, a charity which sends LGBT+ role models into schools to run workshops, with a view to volunteering opportunities. We also work closely with the firm’s pro bono team in supporting Rainbow Migration, a charity that promotes equality and dignity for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex (LGBTI) people who seek asylum in the UK, or who wish to immigrate here to be with their same-sex partner.
