About the team

Gateway 2.0 is a delivery organization within FIS Merchant Services that builds a set of products for the Worldpay From FIS brand. We work directly with large corporate customers to help them integrate with our eCommerce Payment products. Our products are built using modern API standards distributed using modern cloud practices. This capability is a discriminator in the eCommernce Payments industry, thus is seen as a strategic initiative within FIS.

What you will be doing

As a Software Engineer you will be a member of a squad that is building, releasing and operating products for the Access Worldpay proposition. The Software Engineer role means that you take on technical responsibilities within the squad and the wider tribe. As a Software Engineer, you have a specialisation towards driving your squad forwards in all aspects associated with building micro-services. As a member of the squad you will also have deep understanding of the product and industry you are building for.

Specifically, you will be doing the following
  • Delivering features for the services and products your squad own
  • Building your skills set towards a full-stack engineer, ie. Play Framework, Jenkins, AWS, etc.
  • Driving the squad toward achieving our tribe's high-quality objectives
  • Helping to refine and plan the requirements for your squad's products
  • Supporting and mentoring more junior engineers within the squad
  • Periodically being on-call for the services your squad builds

  • An engineering skill set that is focused on quality and a test first philosophy, regardless of the activity
  • An agile mindset where you will drive both your squad and the wider tribe towards better ways of working
  • Experience of delivering Reactive Java Spring Boot or Scala based micro-services with the Cloud
  • The ability to take on complex technical problems and drive them through to a solution
  • An inquisitive personality that is always looking for constant improvement opportunities

Added bonus if you have:
  • Practical experience with Scala
  • Exposure to AWS, Docker and Kubernetes
  • Exposure to the Payments industry domain (especially Cards and other payment schemes)
  • Exposure to PCI-DSS
  • Exposure to SAFe
