Senior Analyst - Materials&Chassis

The IHS Markit Automotive - Supply Chain and Technology team is in search of a Senior Analyst -Chassis, focusing on research and forecasting of a variety of aspects of chassis market, including weight reduction strategies and material adoption by OEMs and Tier 1 Suppliers in the area. This position will be based out of the IHS Markit Tokyo office.

General Job Duties
  • Conduct primary and secondary research to build in-depth understanding of chassis market in Japan/South Korea, capturing technology trends in the region across various components  (braking, steering, suspension).
  • Assessing weight reduction strategies adopted by local OEMs and material trends at the component level inside passenger vehicles.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of databases which will track a set of attributes related to component technology, materials and weights.
  • Project work involvement, including cross-regional and cross-team projects as needed
  • Present findings/data via webinars and at conferences/tradeshows/client events
  • Nurture a network of contacts at automotive companies, both OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers

  • Proven understanding of current and future trends in automotive chassis market
  • Understanding of how OEMs and Suppliers select materials for components and what are the drivers for such choices
  • Engineering background is highly desirable, OEM and/or Tier-1 experience is a plus
  • Fluency in English and Japanese, additional language skills, such as Korean, would be an added bonus
  • Passion and knowledge of automotive industry, Proven connections/entry points in the automotive industry
  • Proficiency with MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint); understanding of database mechanics helpful but not essential (e.g. Access, Knime)
  • Accurate analytical and data interpretation skills
  • Strong presentations skills and comfortable in client interactions

  • 自動車関連企業(OEM、ティア1サプライヤー等)とのネットワーク構築

求められる経験/ スキル
  • 自動車シャシー市場の現在および将来のトレンドを理解している
  • OEMとサプライヤーが部品の材料をどのように選定しているか、また、何が選定要因となっているかを理解している
  • エンジニアとしての業務経験があることが非常に望ましい、特にOEMまたはティア1サプライヤーでの経験があれば尚可
  • ビジネスレベルの英語と日本語、加えて韓国語などの能力があれば尚可
  • 自動車業界への情熱と知識、自動車業界でのコネクション/エントリーポイントを有す
  • Excel、Word、PowerPointのスキル。データベース(Access、Knime)の知識は必須ではないが、あれば尚可
