Insurance Placement Specialist

What can you expect:

The successful candidate will be required to work closely with Marsh colleagues (mainly in our Commercial Practice) on the implementation of placement strategy for client’s insurance programs. You will build and maintain strong relationships and develop strategic partnerships with key insurance carriers within the region, negotiate with insurers to achieve the best terms whilst delivering a first class service for clients.

We will rely on you to:

  • Negotiate renewals and new business cases with the insurance market to obtain the best terms possible including  complex or difficult cases
  • Understand the business needs, insurance requirements and risk management strategy of our clients and convey to insurers
  • Undertake appropriate research and analysis to select markets and and where required assist in the design of insurance programmes to meet the client’s requirements
  • Provide recommendations and advice on placement strategy, programme structure and market conditions including occasional presentations to clients where appropriate
  • Provide regular updates to the Client Service teams on progress of insurer negotiations
  • Fully document all quotations received and advise the Client Servicing team of all conditions
  • Act as a referral point for the resolution of complex insurer queries
  • Host client and insurer meetings in partnership with the client service team as required
  • Support the Team Leader in management functions as required
  • Ensure operational procedures are followed and can be demonstrated at all times
  • Develop and maintain  strong working relationships  with insurers and seek feedback on Marsh’s service through ongoing dialogue
  • Working to and meeting tight deadlines for the delivery of insurance terms for clients/prospects

What you will need to have:

  • Proven experience of  insurance broking /placement or underwriting for commercial/corporate accounts - essential
  • Awareness of Clients’ business, their business issues, insurance programmes and service plans
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines
  • Flexible and team player
  • Excellent insurer trading & negotiation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain clear lines of communication with various internal and external stakeholders 
  • Ability to identify areas to improve efficiency, accuracy and analysis and suggest ways of improvement
  • Proven relationship management experience with a strong insurer/broker network of contacts
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple enquiries simultaneously
  • Fully Competent in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Fully qualified CIP

  • A degree in Business Studies or a related discipline (desirable)
  • Fully qualified ACII - desirable
