Lead Valuation Services Analyst

This role requires a technically skilled individual with strong actuarial modelling skills and proven experience with coding – SQL, Power BI, VBA and Excel. The role holder will be working on the SJP Business Sales & Purchase Valuation model and lead on strategic projects relating to the Valuation model and associated data architecture. This role could suit an experienced grad with relevant analyst experience, ideally within Financial Services.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert for the BSP Valuations model. Apply expertise to both projects & BAU.
  • Oversee data analysis and checks-and-control framework on the Valuations model.
  • Own the team's suite of Power BI dashboards, SQL queries, Power queries, Macros & add-in functions and Tableau reports.
  • Lead on the regular valuation of SJP's renewal Income assets.
  • Support development of the BSP scheme and SJP Debt and Equity propositions via suite of Valuation reports & due diligence packs on SJP Partner businesses.
  • Communicate the results of analysis to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • QC/oversight responsibility for the production of BAU actuarial process.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and role model a ‘continuous improvements’ approach.
  • Ensure Partner queries are handled accurately, effectively and within SLA.
  • Apply knowledge to realise operational efficiency gains through assisting on developments across the division.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Degree or post-graduate degree and/or 3 years’ experience in a related industry/subject preferably Financial Services
  • Good awareness of the SJP business, divisional functions and the SJP Partnership, including cultural awareness.
  • Commercial awareness of the impact of a BSP on the company in terms of finance and risk.
  • Knowledge/understanding of the BSP Valuation Model/process including data feeds and the actuarial valuation basis.
  • Knowledge of remuneration structure underpinning core SJP products.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and able to adapt the proposition/process to meet the needs of SJP Partners.
  • Able to engage effectively with a variety of Stakeholders and to present confidently and explain underlying trends.
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Essential - high degree of competency with:
  • Developing SQL queries to analyse large data sets.
  • VBA coding.
  • Power BI to analyse data.
  • Desirable:
  • Experience of using Tableau.
  • Building and maintaining Power Queries to automate repetitive tasks.

Special Requirements:

May occasionally be required to attend and travel to Partner meetings within UK Location.
