How to Relocate Safely as an LGBTQ+ Employee

Most employees see international assignments as vital to their career progression. However, LGBTQ+ employees often face more hurdles when relocating, with additional challenges such as obtaining a visa for their same-sex partner to facing potential discrimination because of their sexual orientation in their new country's place of work. We'll be talking to HR/DE&I and industry professionals about the challenges of relocating LGBTQ+ staff, what more organizations can do to help their staff relocate safely and better safeguard their LGBTQ+ employees while they are working abroad. The panel will also share their relocation stories, as well as provide insights into which countries are safe, and those still deemed too dangerous, to relocate LGBTQ+ staff. If you are considering relocating abroad for work, you won't want to miss this!

    GAIN
I am currently working hard to ramp up my boutique consulting firm, GAIN, where my dream is to create a safe place where our team can feel comfortable bringing their whole self to work every day while we work to give access to companies in search of opportunities. Our goal is to adapt the way we do consulting to make it accesible (and actually useful) to those that need it. Through our ecosystem we help companies grow locally and internationally and offer personalized advisory board session with experts from throughout the World who can give firsthand insights when needed most. Parallel to this, I consider myself an activist of our LGBT+ community and have tried to use my talents to improve our quality of life whenever possible. One of the achievements I am most proud of was being part of a legal team that presented a complaint against the government of Puerto Rico before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights which served as a precursor for the government of Puerto Rico to no longer defend their definition of a "traditional marriage".
