5 Tips on How to Be a Trans Ally

By Lucy Putruele, Facilities Coordinator at Rapport

  1. Respect pronouns, if you don't know the pronouns - listen first.
  2. Don't make assumptions: either about sexuality or how a trans person should look.
  3. Be respectful: (don't ask their "birth name" or ask about their body)
  4. Give them a platform, Show up, support their causes, if they are asking for change just support. They know what they need, what they don't have, what's unfair. Fight with them not for them.
  5. Stop transphobia, speak up. Challenge people who are transphobic, report transphobic comments.
