Elliot Page Files For Divorce From Wife Emma Portner

Juno star Elliot Page has filed for divorce from his wife, Emma Portner, just weeks after coming out as trans and non-binary.

The multi-nominated actor, formerly known as Ellen Page, wed Canadian dancer and choreographer Portner in early 2018.

Now, according to the ‘National Post’, Page filed legal papers in New York to end the three-year marriage.

The actor was first linked to Portner in 2017, where Page announced that he was marrying Portner in an Instagram post that said, “Can’t believe I get to call this extraordinary woman my wife.” The two later got married in January 2018.

As of December last year, Page announced the change of pronouns to “he” and “they”. “I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they and my name is Elliot,” he wrote in a statement posted on Twitter. “I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life.”

In a separate post, Portner said that she was proud of her husband.

“I am so proud of @elliotpage,” she wrote. “Trans, queer and non-binary people are a gift to this world. I also ask for patience & privacy but that you join me in the fervent support of trans life every single day. Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much.”

But earlier today Page filed paperwork in the in the Manhattan Supreme Court for a contested divorce.

Representatives for the pair have yet to comment on the news of their split.
