Fitch Group Appoints Andrew Johnson Jr. as Non-Executive Adviser on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Fitch Group, a global leader in financial information services with operations in more than 30 countries, today announced the appointment of Andrew Johnson Jr. as a non-executive adviser on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI).

In his new role, Mr. Johnson Jr. will work with Fitch Group’s senior leaders to advance Fitch’s progress on DEI issues. He will provide guidance, advice and mentoring to the executive management team, including monitoring the team to ensure that DEI key performance indicators are agreed and the company’s DEI strategy is implemented.

Fitch has introduced a number of successful DEI initiatives in recent years to support its strategy of retaining, developing and advancing diverse talent. The appointment of Mr. Johnson Jr. follows the recent hiring of Dr. Maria Angelica Perez as Fitch Group’s head of DEI. Mr. Johnson Jr. will advise Dr. Perez on the implications of emerging DEI trends and how they may have an impact on the business.

Mr. Johnson Jr. currently oversees diversity and inclusion at Neuberger Berman, having retired from the firm in 2018 following a 29-year career in the Chicago investment management community.

Paul Taylor, Fitch Group CEO, said: “Diversity, Equity & Inclusion has become a critical component of Fitch’s strategy and this new role reflects that. We’re very pleased to be able to draw on Andrew’s perspective and expertise in this important area. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion are core values at Fitch. We believe that diverse teams achieve better results by leveraging a broad set of ideas and views. Long-term, sustainable change is our goal and having a critical, independent and constructive advocate for DEI advising the leadership team will help take us forward.”
