Same-Sex Penguin Couple Fostering Second Egg
The same-sex penguin couple from an aquarium in Sydney made headline news last year after becoming parents for the first time. Now, they might be about to expand their family, according to ‘NBC News'.
“We’ve fostered them another egg this year, so Sphengic may or may not have a little baby brother or sister, but we’re not sure if it’s fertile yet at this stage,” Tish Hannan, a penguin keeper at Sea Life Sydney Aquarium said.
The gay couple, Sphen and Magic, have a penguin chick, Sphengic, who turned one in October 2019. Hannan says the couple are “fantastic parents” and “very loyal and protective”.
