Sir Elton John Hosts A Coronavirus Benefit Concert ‘iHeart Living Room’

Sir Elton John took the initiative of hosting a coronavirus benefit concert, joined by other quarantined stars from around the music world, for a virtual concert called ‘iHeart Living Room’.

From his home in Los Angeles, the British pop icon hosted the benefit concert and was virtually joined by artists such as Billie Eilish, Dave Grohl, and Miriah Carey also performing from their homes, as ‘BBC’ reports.

Although sir Elton John was located in “his only house without a piano” he was able to dig out his son’s keyboard and shared a rendition of ‘Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me’ as well as an a cappella extract from Lizzo’s track Juice.

“Not long ago, there was another infectious disease that was ignored,” said Sir Elton.

“Day in and day out, the disease got worse, because we did nothing. Too many forgot about compassion and decency, and so millions and millions of people perished from Aids. But this time, we aren't going to let that happen. So, stay home for the ones you love.”

Billie Eilish delivered a chilled-out version of her top hit Bad Guy alongside her brother and musical partner Finneas O’Connell.

Foo Fighter’s frontman Dave Growl dedicated his performance of ‘My Hero’ to all the first responders and healthcare professionals who are putting themselves in the front line to fight this virus.

“I'd like to dedicate this song to all the people out there who are on the frontlines,” he said when introducing My Hero. “That are doing their best to get us through all of this.

“If you sing that last chorus every time you wash your hands, I think you might be in good shape,” he joked.

Mariah Carey performed her track ‘Always Be My Baby’ and thanked her twins for “staying patient with me at home and not complaining too much.”

Other artists who hoped in the benefit, either to dedicate a song or to send wishes of hope to the world include Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Camila Cabello and boyfriend Shawn Mendez, the Backstreet Boys and Sam Smith.

The benefit raised funds for Feeding America and the First Responders Children’s Foundation.
