Trans Teenager Uses Humour To Fight Through LGBT+ Struggles
A 15-year-old trans from Belle River takes the stage in a bar in Windsor for a comedy show, sharing some of the more difficult parts of his life and making his audience cry of laughter.
"I'll say 'I'm transgender and gay,' and then everyone will go silent and then I'll say 'Why did no one clap for me?' and that gets them started," said Louis according to ‘CBC’.
“When they don't understand something, it's hard for them to laugh at,” he continues. ”That's why I do a lot of comedy about my sexuality and gender, because it's a lot easier to understand something when you're laughing at it.”
Since his act is performed in a bar and Louis Brady is only 15, his parents have to be there with him, which makes it a bit awkward.
"It can be a little stressful, especially when your family is sitting in the audience, but usually I'm like, 'Well, they'll hear what they're gonna hear and we can talk about it afterwards.’”
Performing with Louis the night CBC caught a show was a comedian from Chicago, who just also happened to be trans.
