WorkFair 2023 Recap: Students and Graduates Provided with Incredible Opportunities

Wednesday, 18th October 2023 saw the fourth annual WorkFair event hosted by myGwork. With dozens of booths, events, workshops and panels to take part in, the career fair saw thousands of participants taking part in search of new opportunities. The event was a complete success, with a fantastic turnout and many prospective professionals in attendance.


The event kicked off at 11am, with dozens of virtual booths opening their doors to students, graduates and jobseekers alike. From media companies to culinary services, finance businesses to hospitality, there was an immense range of opportunities available to all involved. By the end of the day, we are happy to share that we had over 6,000 booth visits, and 1100 webinar attendees!

The WorkFair event also featured a range of panels featuring industry leaders and experts, discussing topics such as Effective Hiring in a Competitive Market. The speakers shared insights on employer branding, inclusive recruitment techniques, leveraging digital platforms, and crafting compelling narratives to attract diverse skill sets. They emphasized the importance of inclusion and diversity in the workplace, stating that companies need to intentionally prioritize these values in order to stay ahead of the competition.


Another panel, Future Trends in the Workplace, focused on the importance of inclusive practices in creating a harmonious and forward-thinking work environment. The panelists discussed the significance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in driving better outcomes for businesses. Workplace flexibility was highlighted as crucial to accommodate individual preferences, and the panelists encouraged organizations to take responsibility for driving lasting change and committing to sustainable diversity and inclusion efforts. Interestingly, they also discussed the direct impact of AI technology on workplaces, emphasizing the importance of human skills like empathy and compassion in creating a supportive work environment.


The Navigating the Graduate Job Search panel brought together experts to discuss the essential qualities and skills that recruiters are looking for in graduate candidates. The panelists, including recruitment specialists and managers, provided advice on how to stand out in job applications. They emphasized the importance of tailoring applications to specific roles and highlighting relevant skills and experiences. The panel also discussed the role of AI in the recruitment process, highlighting the need for applicants to ensure that their qualifications are clearly presented on their resumes, as many companies utilize AI tools to screen applications.


As well as workshops on CV and cover letter writing, mastering job interviews and building a professional network, WorkFair participants were treated with educational and helpful lessons on top of all the opportunities of the day. With excellent numbers and a positive response, the fourth annual WorkFair event was an immense success!
