Most parental leave policies are written for one kind of family and then patched for everyone else. S&P Global's is not: a global minimum of 20 weeks for all parents regardless of gender, covering birth, adoption, surrogacy and foster placement. For LGBTQ+ people planning a family, that single sentence does more work than most diversity statements. The company, a myGwork partner, has 307 live roles on our platform.
S&P Global calls its employee networks People Resource Groups, and the LGBTQ+ one is Pride, established in 2005 — two decades of continuous operation, which is unusual. A Global Ally Program followed in 2017.
Pride is one of nine PRGs, alongside Adelante, APEX, BOLD, Empower, ParentsNet, REACH, Valor and WINS. The scale is what distinguishes them: more than 100 chapters across 30-plus countries, over 900 colleagues serving as global or regional board leaders, and 28% of the workforce belonging to at least one group. A network with chapters in thirty countries is a network that exists where you actually work, not just where the head office is.
On day-to-day practice, S&P Global carries preferred pronouns on its intranet and corporate email signatures, and runs self-identification campaigns — publishing its LGBTQ+ self-ID rate openly, including when it moves in the wrong direction, which is rarer than it should be. The company also supported amicus briefs to the US Supreme Court on workplace LGBTQ+ equality. It held a perfect 100 on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index for eight consecutive years through 2023.
Emily Jasper, Global President of the Pride People Resource Group, made the point that the calendar is not the commitment: "Pride Month might be once a year, but creating visibility and positive recognition should be done every day."
S&P Global's flagship entry route is the CREDit Summer Internship Programme at S&P Global Ratings — ten weeks in London, New York, Milan and other hubs, combining structured training with a group mock ratings committee project presented to a committee of senior leaders. You leave having done the actual job, not having shadowed it.
For those wanting breadth, the Commercial Rotation Program at S&P Dow Jones Indices in New York runs 24 months across four rotation categories — operations, sales, post-sales and thought leadership — with a permanent placement on completion.
