Lady Gaga Announces ‘One World: Together At Home’ Concert To Raise Money For Coronavirus Relief

Lady Gaga has teamed up with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and dozens of other musicians to “help fight boredom” and raise money for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

The broadcast, which will feature live performances from a number of world-class musicians will not only promote social distancing but also encourage viewers to donate funds towards “relief efforts that support local charities providing food, shelter and health care to those in need,” as ‘Global News’ writes.

From the comfort of their own homes artist like Lady Gaga, Elton John, Lizzo, Alanis Morissette, Billie Eilish, Paul McCartney, Burna Boy and many more will be partaking in this special musical event which will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon, Kimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert.

In her speech at the WHO Gaga “proudly” revealed that with the help of “68 generous corporations” she has helped raise more than UC$35 million for the novel coronavirus relief fund.

“This money will [go towards] essential [personal protective equipment] supplies and testing kits around the world and will help improve the lab capacity to rapidly process [COVID-19] tests,” she said. “It will also [help with] research development.”

Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evan later chimed in, saying: “As we honour and support the heroic efforts of community health workers, One World: Together at Home aims to serve as a source of unity and encouragement in the global fight to end COVID-19.

“Through music, entertainment and impact, the global live-cast will celebrate those who risk their own health to safeguard everyone else’s,” he added.

One World: Together at Home will broadcast live on Saturday, April 18 at 1 a.m. GMT.
