I have been at Morningstar for quite a long time and one of the core components of the organization that has continued to motivate me, has been Morningstar's support and commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. It is truly part of our organization's DNA and a key priority and an investment of our senior leadership. Morningstar is a company who allows you to bring your whole-self to work no matter where in the world you are located! In the United States we continue to have a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) Corporate Equality Index (CEI), for multiple years in a row which is something that every Morningstar employee should be proud of and celebrate!

There are a lot of places that say the words "Bring your whole self to work!", but not all that many where it's really possible. Morningstar is the exception. I've worked here for many years, and feel proud that I can bring all parts of my identity and experience to the table. Morningstar's team members create an environment of genuine inclusion, where we value each other's unique perspectives and roll up our sleeves to do the work together. It's empowering and inspiring to work at place that practices its values every day.

As a first-generation, Mexican-American graduate who didn't have a finance background, I had two worries when accepting my offer at Morningstar. 1. Is Morningstar for me? (the finance industry in general has low representation of minorities) and 2. Is Morningstar for me? (not having a finance background). I am now getting close to to my 3-year anniversary at Morningstar, and can confidently say those worries are in the past. Morningstar truly values diversity of thought, meaning we value diverse educational backgrounds; a majority of the colleagues whom I've worked with also did not have a finance major. Morningstar also keeps Diversity, Equity and Inclusion central to its progress, with the internal infrastructure it provides like Employee Resource Groups, mentorship, educational resources, and its commitment to continuously improve. I easily found a community at Morningstar and am very proud of the culture that I am a part of!
